About
Frontline Arts is a 50-year-old socially engaged arts nonprofit, working in papermaking and printmaking across New Jersey and the Eastern United States. Located in Branchburg, NJ Frontline Arts provides programs, studio space and public resources via in-house, virtual, and mobile programs. We supply equipment use, storage, technical assistance, socially engaged workshops, exhibitions and services to a diverse community of artists, changemakers and enthusiasts.
Our specialty is the transformative process of making handmade paper from military uniforms with our flagship program, Frontline Paper. Through public workshops, this handmade paper creates a platform for veterans and non-veterans to come together, reclaim their experiences and share stories. We have adapted this model with recycled fabrics and fibers to Youth Programs, to the Scrubs Paper project, working with healthcare workers and patients, and the Migration Project, working with immigrant communities. We work on the frontlines of artmaking to serve thousands of artists, Veterans, youth, community groups, and the general public each year, using craft to discover commonalities and promote positive change.
