Resource Development Manager

Reports to: Executive Director


Job Summary: Responsible for planning and overseeing all aspects of resource development for the Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity affiliate. Develop and implement an annual strategy to increase the affiliate’s financial resources through fundraising events; corporate and community group sponsorships; government, corporate, and private foundation grants; in-kind giving; and individual donor stewardship and development initiatives.


Major Functions


Fundraising Events: Work with staff and volunteer fundraising committee to participate in and support fundraising activities. Analyze current programs and fundraising activities and initiate new programs and ideas.


Corporate Engagement: Develop business relationships and implement strategies to secure in-kind gifts and corporate sponsorships for events and build days.


Grant Funding: Work with staff and volunteers to secure grant funding from government agencies, foundations, and corporations. Identify opportunities and track proposal submissions, deadlines, report due dates, and renewal opportunities.


Individual Donors: Develop strategies to engage, upgrade, and retain individual donors. Identify and cultivate potential donors through events, outreach, and data analysis. Develop and implement strategies to increase participation in the Cars for Homes program and Carpenter’s Club monthly donor program. Develop a legacy-giving society.


Administration: Provide accurate development reports to Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity's Executive Director and help develop an annual resource development budget.


Other duties as may be required or assigned.


Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree
  2. 2+ years of experience in fundraising or development at a nonprofit organization(s) preferred.
  3. Proven success in planning and executing fundraising events and/or securing grant funding.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  1. Passionate about the mission of Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity.
  2. Familiarity with computers including all Microsoft Office Software.
  3. Goal-driven, results-oriented, and committed to the organization’s effort to serve Somerset and Hunterdon Counties through our programs.
  4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with donors, community partners, funders, internal staff members, and volunteers.
  6. Extremely organized, able to work independently and manage tasks from start to completion, meeting deadlines.
  7. Exceptional attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy with all tasks, and pride in a job well done.
  8. Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, diplomacy, and initiative.
  9. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for offsite meetings as required.
