About
The mission of The Center for Contemporary Art is, “to provide a vibrant, contemporary cultural center through arts education, exhibitions and community partnerships that will inspire creativity and enhance people's lives.” The Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Founded in 1970 as the Somerset Art Association by a small group of artists in Bernardsville, N.J., today The Center offers art classes and workshops in a variety of media to over 1,600 children, teens and adults enrolled in more than 225 classes and workshops taught by 50 faculty members. In its galleries, The Center presents the work of over 250 artists each year, including emerging and well-established artists, members, faculty and youth. Through community partnerships The Center provides a comprehensive year-round curriculum of outreach programs for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, people affected by cancer, and adults with disabilities.
