About
The New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC) is committed to advocating for legislation, regulations, and policy directives that empower county governments to operate more effectively and efficiently. As a non-partisan organization that represents the only true regional form of government in the State with a unified and proactive voice, NJAC is committed to advancing innovative programs and initiatives that enhance the level of service provided and save valuable taxpayer dollars. GRASSROOTS ADVOCACY NJAC engages in grassroots advocacy with an active board of directors and includes: developing comprehensive position statements; testifying at committee meetings and public hearings; leading workshops and brainstorming sessions; managing the press and public relations; and, promoting cutting edge county programs and initiatives. COMPREHENSIVE RESEARCH NJAC conducts comprehensive research and analysis on a wide range of substantive topics that include: the regionalization of services, pension and health benefits reform; the costs associated with operating court facilities; property tax cap levy restrictions; local aid allocations under the Transportation Trust Fund; and, much more. COUNTY AFFILIATES AND OUTREACH NJAC meets on a regular basis with our county administrators, finance officers, jail wardens, counsels, planners, purchasing officials, welfare directors, engineers, improvement authorities, and others as subject matter experts; and, provides timely legislative updates through “State House News” to county officials across the State. OUTSTANDING ANNUAL CELEBRATION NJAC hosts an outstanding annual celebration of county government, where county officials may network with colleagues, share resources and ideas, earn valuable continuing education credits, and enjoy the one-of-a-kind “County Vocational-Technical School Cook Challenge,” and a fantastic “County College Acapella Sing-Off.” UNIQUE SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES NJAC provides scholarship opportunities through the NJAC Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization committed to providing financial assistance for county vocational-technical school graduates who plan on continuing their education at a county or state college. Since 2011, the NJAC Foundation has awarded nearly 500,000.00 in scholarships to 750 students who continued their education at home in the Garden State. Through the generous grant funding from some of New Jersey’s leading corporate citizens, such as Investors Bank, PSEG, New Jersey Manufactures (NJM), Amazon, and SHI International, the Foundation has enjoyed the opportunity to provide some much-needed financial support to an impressive group of hardworking students.
