About
A borough with roots in the Revolutionary War era, Bernardsville has managed to maintain its smalltown charm in the face of modern-day development pressures. Once part of Bernards Township, Bernardsville was known as Vealtown until 1840, when its name was changed to honor Sir Francis Bernards, one of New Jersey's colonial governors.
