Save a Life Day (or “SALD”) September 24th
Save a Life Day (or “SALD”) started in West Virginia in 2020 and has since expanded and grown into a nationwide initiative to prevent opioid overdose deaths by providing free naloxone and overdose prevention education within local communities.

Save a Life Day (or “SALD”) started in West Virginia in 2020 and has since expanded and grown into a nationwide initiative to prevent opioid overdose deaths by providing free naloxone and overdose prevention education within local communities.
Somerset County has participated in Save a Life Day since 2023. Last year, volunteers and local community organizations were deployed to over 30 locations within the county, distributing over 977 Naloxone/Narcan kits (nearly 2000 doses) in a single day, in addition to countless meaningful conversations sharing valuable resources with members of our county community. This year, we are looking to continue to provide this life-saving education and expand our impact in the county.
Opportunities for Business Engagement:
We are calling upon our business community to join us in acting against opioid overdose by participating in Save a Life Day. Participation can look like:
- Providing tabling opportunities for volunteers to hand out naloxone kits and resources for overdose prevention and recovery
- Providing a "grab-n-go" table of resources and naloxone for customers, clients, and staff (Narcan and resources will be provided by the county and our community partners)
- Attending Narcan training for Somerset County businesses to be trained on how to administer Narcan as a means of First Aid (Date and location to be announced).
