Nisivoccia Announces Promotions Effective January 2024

Mount Arlington, New Jersey (January 2024). Nisivoccia is pleased to announce the following promotions effective January 2024. The Nisivoccia team is extremely proud of these individuals for their continued hard work and leadership. Please enjoy the write-ups on each person below and join us in congratulating them.


David Benson, CPA

Director of Tax

David joined Nisivoccia in October 2019 with 14 years of prior tax experience. David specializes in providing services to our individual and business tax clients. He holds a master’s in taxation from Northeastern University. David emphasizes listening to and learning about his clients as much as possible, being responsive, and making his clients feel valued. David works closely with his peers in the tax department where the team shares a mutual respect and appreciation, in addition to being a great resource of knowledge for one another to continue learning and growing.


Brian Gibbons, CPA, RMA, PSA

Manager

Brian began his career at Nisivoccia in 2017, providing accounting, audit, and single audit services to municipalities, counties, school districts, and other various government entities. Brian likes to be a valued resource to clients for all types of matters, from accounting, budgeting, capital and debt management, purchasing, as well as federal and state tax-related issues. As a valued team member of nearly seven years, Brian appreciates the overall environment at Nisivoccia, noting that everyone is incredibly supportive and quick to help you reach your goals.

Brian Ko, CPA, RMA, PSA

Principal

Brian began his career with Nisivoccia as an intern in 2010, servicing our school district and municipal clients. Brian not only provides his clients with peace of mind during the audit season, but he also enjoys offering some stress relief with humor and a friendly face. He is also an active member of the community and local chambers, including his role as the Treasurer of the Mount Olive Area Chamber of Commerce. Brian is a valuable member of the firm’s Quality of Life Committee where he enjoys planning our annual events, increasing employee engagement, and working with our team members.


Vicki Kosuda, CPA

Principal

Vicki joined Nisivoccia in October 2022 to lead and expand the Client Accounting Services (CAS) practice within the firm. Vicki came to Nisivoccia with extensive experience in client accounting services, cloud technology, and CFO services. She was also the owner of her own CAS consulting practice. Under Vicki’s leadership, the CAS practice helps our clients manage their business finances, enabling them to make more informed decisions.


Caitlin Orton, CPA, RMA, PSA

Principal

Caitlin began her career as an intern with Nisivoccia in 2012 and has since developed a practice of servicing municipal and school district clients. In addition to regularly presenting in speaking engagements on the audit process and regulation changes, Caitlin likes to help her clients by focusing on the details so she can be ready to answer any of their questions and help them better understand their finances. Caitlin appreciates the guidance and support along the way from an intern to her current role in the firm.


Michelle Shapiro, CPA

Director of Tax

Michelle joined Nisivoccia in 2020, bringing with her a wealth of tax knowledge and expertise from working at other firms. Michelle helps her clients through tax planning strategies and entity selection, working with business entities of various segments and high net-worth individuals. Michelle is the former President and currently a Director of the New Jersey Society of CPAs, Morris/Sussex Chapter, a member of the Morris County Chamber Executive Women in Business Group and sits on the finance committee of the Mayo Performing Arts Center. Michelle enjoys being a sounding board for all business financial questions and decisions for her clients.


Harlene Stevens, CPA

Director of Tax

Harlene will be celebrating 17 years with the firm in February 2024. Harlene specializes in small business and high net-worth clients and leads the firm's dental accounting practice. She is a frequent speaker on tax planning topics. Harlene advises clients throughout the year, not only by preparing tax returns. She analyzes each specific situation and works with clients to save them money most effectively on taxes, which ultimately maximizes their savings. Harlene has enjoyed seeing Nisivoccia grow from being a small firm in Randolph to our offices now with over 100 employees. She not only appreciates the support and encouragement along the way to growing the firm and taking new opportunities, but she also motivates and encourages others similarly.


Matt Sylvester

Supervising Senior


Matt joined the firm in our governmental entity group in 2019. He provides audit and accounting services to municipalities, school districts and local authority organizations. Matt enjoys working together as a team to have the expertise among us at the firm to answer questions and offer advice to clients of any type when going in for an audit.
