FIFA World Cup Fever Coming to Somerset County with Watch Parties, Festivals and Family Events
SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Soccer fans won't have to travel far to experience the excitement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Communities across Somerset County are planning a series of watch parties, cultural festivals and family-friendly events throughout June, giving residents and visitors plenty of opportunities to celebrate the world's biggest sporting event close to home.
From downtown street festivals and large-screen match viewings to interactive soccer challenges and cultural celebrations, municipalities and businesses throughout the county are embracing the global tournament with events designed to bring communities together.
The festivities begin June 13 in Basking Ridge with the "Battle of Basking Ridge," a Soccer Village and Cultural Street Festival in the historic downtown district. Organized by Bernards Township in partnership with Somerset County, the event will feature a community watch party for the Brazil-Morocco match, international food vendors, cultural performances, soccer skill challenges and family activities. The event coincides with FC Berna's regional youth soccer tournament, which is expected to draw thousands of visiting families to the area.
On June 19, Warren Township will host a USA vs. Australia Watch Party at Warren Municipal Field. The free event will run from noon to 6 p.m., with the match scheduled for a 3 p.m. kickoff. Organizers are encouraging residents to wear their team colors and gather with friends and neighbors to cheer on Team USA.
The following day, June 20, soccer fans can head to The Commons for "Goal Zone @ The Commons," an all-day celebration featuring appearances by players from the legendary New York Cosmos, interactive soccer simulators, penalty kick challenges and prize giveaways, including a chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree. The family-friendly event will also include international-themed food, entertainment and opportunities for fans to represent their favorite World Cup nations.
One of the county's largest celebrations is scheduled for June 27 with a World Cup Watch Party and Cultural Festival at Iron Peak Sports & Events. The event will feature multiple screens showing World Cup matches throughout the day, along with family activities, games, sponsor exhibits and food vendors. Fans will be able to watch six World Cup matches, including Panama vs. England, Colombia vs. Portugal and Jordan vs. Argentina. Organizers said the event will be held rain or shine.
Also on June 27, Bound Brook will host a Summer Soccer Watch Party on Hamilton Street featuring a live viewing of Colombia vs. Portugal. Residents are encouraged to bring beach chairs, gather with friends and support local businesses while enjoying the match. Parking will be available at the Bound Brook Transit Lot on East Main Street.
With FIFA World Cup matches being played just miles away in the New York-New Jersey region, Somerset County officials and tourism leaders are positioning the county as a destination for fans looking to experience the excitement of the tournament through community gatherings, cultural celebrations and family-friendly activities.
Additional watch parties, participating venues and event details are expected to be announced throughout the tournament. Organizers are also encouraging businesses, restaurants, breweries and community groups to submit their own World Cup viewing events to be included in countywide promotions.
