Approved Fire Protection & Security

Founded in 1930 by Roswell E. Bolen as a small family-run fire extinguisher service in North Plainfield, New Jersey, Approved Fire Protection & Security has grown over more than 95 years into a leading provider of fire protection, security, and life safety solutions across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. From its early roots serving local fire departments and small businesses, the company expanded through generations of family leadership, including Dorothy Meskill and her son, Robert Niper, and continues that legacy today under CEO Diane Pein. With the additions of Abel Fire in 2024 and Electronic Security & Communications Corp. in 2025, Approved Fire Protection & Security now offers fully integrated fire and security services while remaining committed to its founding mission: protecting lives and property and honoring the family-owned companies that helped shape the industry.

Approved Fire Protection & Security is proud to be part of a local business community built on trust, connection, and looking out for one another. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our neighbors with reliable fire protection, security, and life safety solutions, and we take pride in supporting the homes, businesses, and organizations that make our community strong. Our commitment goes beyond the services we provide—we build lasting relationships, donate to local food banks and community organizations, and do our part to help bring our communities back to strong roots while creating a safer, stronger future for everyone.

"As a family-owned company with deep local roots, we believe our responsibilities goes beyond protecting buildings - it's about protecting and supporting the people who make our communities strong. Giving back to local food banks and community organizations is one way we can help strengthen the neighborhoods that have supported us for generations." - Diane Pein, CEO
