Smoochy Midnight Run

We’re excited to invite teens in grades 8–12 to take part in this year’s Midnight Run—a meaningful overnight experience that combines community service, social action, and friendship! What is the Midnight Run? Midnight Run is a nonprofit organization that coordinates more than 1,000 relief missions each year to support unhoused individuals in New York City. Volunteers from synagogues, churches, schools, and community groups work together to distribute food, warm clothing, blankets, and personal care items directly to people living on the streets. But the Midnight Run is about more than just delivering supplies—it’s about building human connection. Through respectful and personal interactions, teens gain a deeper understanding of compassion, dignity, and the impact of service. What to Expect: Participants will meet at Temple Beth-El on Saturday, December 20 at 4:00 p.m. for an orientation and preparation session. Teens will: -Learn about the Midnight Run mission and how to safely and respectfully interact with those they serve -Assemble goodie bags filled with food and essential supplies -Join together for a meaningful Havdalah service before departure Afterward, we will travel by bus into New York City, stopping at both Port Authority and Penn Station to distribute donations. Teens will be supervised by adult staff and chaperones throughout the evening. The night will include dinner, snacks, a late-night meal at a diner, and breakfast the following morning before pickup at approximately 8:30 a.m. Please note that all participants will sleep over at the temple that night. This unique and eye-opening experience helps teens grow in empathy, gratitude, and social responsibility, while creating lasting memories with peers and mentors. Register now to reserve your spot!
