Grilling for Homeownership Fundraiser

Central Jersey Housing Resource Center Corp. (CJHRC) is holding its Grilling for Homeownership Annual Fundraiser on May 30, 2024 at the Somerville Elks Lodge 1068 located at 375 Union Avenue, Bridgewater, NJ from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

CJHRC has been helping very low-, low- and moderate-income individuals and households for over 37 years with their housing and financial issues and goals. “This event will kick off National Homeownership Month which starts in June each year. We are proud that CJHRC counselors offer 4 types of pre purchase counseling which often is customized for clients resulting in their purchasing their first home due to learning of grants and the NJ Affordable Housing Program” stated Executive Director Sharon Clark.

Recently there have been significant changes to the housing industry and the following topics will be covered by the following speakers at our May 30, 2024, event.

• Adam Goldstein, Chief Business Officer at the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (FHLBNY), will present challenges facing first-time homebuyers, changes in the housing market and increased down payment assistance grants.
• New Jersey Senator Scutari will address the changes in NJ S-50 legislation which recently passed. The law represents a dramatic shift from the way affordable housing in NJ has been administered and he will touch on significant changes and what municipalities can expect to meet and determine Round 4 obligations/ numbers. (Senator Scutari has been invited and his attendance is pending at this time).
• Michael F. Lattmann, President & Principal Owner of Kienlen Lattmann Sotheby’s International Realty, will review the changes that may affect Realtor Commissions as of July 2024 as a result of the recently settled legal case with the National Association of Realtors and current housing hurdles in our area of NJ.
