We don’t just hand out food—we extend dignity, hope, and community to every person who walks through our doors. We are seeking a Warehouse Assistant to support our daily warehouse operations at our Main Pantry in Hillsborough, NJ. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and accurate flow of donated food—helping us serve thousands of families each year with compassion and care.

Purpose

The Warehouse Assistant works under the direction of the Warehouse Manager to manage food donations, support volunteers, maintain safe operations, and ensure the warehouse operates effectively. This position is ideal for someone detail-oriented, physically active, and committed to our mission.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

• - Receive, sort, and shelve/store food donations

• - Maintain safe, clean, and organized warehouse zones

• - Stage deliveries and distributions for efficiency

• - Support gleaning and donation pickups, including loading/unloading

• - Operate/assist with warehouse equipment (pallet jacks, hand trucks, forklift if certified)

• - Product and warehouse organization

• - Provide guidance and safety support to volunteers

• - Ordering needed product 

Data & Process Management

• - Track product weights and assist with inventory records

• - Maintain accurate records for food intake/output and equipment use

• - Assist in updating SOPs and improving warehouse flow

• - Support administrative tasks such as supply tracking and reporting

Vehicle Monitoring & Logistics

• - Perform routine checks on Feeding Hands vehicles (mileage, fuel, condition)

• - Log vehicle use and report maintenance/inspection needs

• - Assist with donation pickup logistics and support to satellite sites

• - Driving twice a month (as needed) to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to pick up food donations and assisting with local pick-ups or deliveries on occasion 

Qualifications

• - Valid driver’s license required; CDL (or box truck) and equipment experience is a plus 

• - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet throughout shifts

• - Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable using spreadsheets and other warehouse management software

• - Warehouse, logistics, or food distribution experience is a plus

• - Mission-minded, strong communicator, collaborative team member

Position Details

• - Schedule: Up to 30 hrs/week; flexible based on warehouse needs

• - Compensation range: $22-$25/hour

• - Benefits eligible: Vacation and Sick Pay, Medical HRA, Retirement Match

• - Location: In-person at Hillsborough Pantry warehouse (Route 206)

• - Driver Medical Card (non-CDL) required – can be obtained post-employment
