UNITED WAY OF NORTHERN NEW JERSEY Tax Preparation Program Support

United Way of Northern New Jersey is one of 1,800 United Ways around the world. Each United Way is an independent entity that serves a specific community. This United Way is unlike any other in the country, running both a national research organization called United For ALICE as well as serving community needs across a five-county region including Morris, Somerset, Suburban Essex, Sussex, and Warren counties.


The funds raised by this United Way are invested in unbiased data insights, innovative solutions, and on-the- ground impact to address financial hardship, improving life for ALICE and all.

 

Department:

Reports to: 

Associate Director, Financial Stability


Broad Function/Purpose:

Provides scheduling, administrative and program support to the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program 

 

Primary Responsibilities:


Manage online schedule using Acuity Online software

Update and maintain appointment calendars for tax sites

Return phone messages and schedule tax appointments

Manage email messages in tax prep mailboxes

Make reminder calls 24 hours before scheduled appointments

Provide administrative and logistical support for VITA Program

Coordinate the distribution of equipment and supplies to tax sites before and during the filing season

Monitor supplies and re-order as needed



Requirements:

Ability to manage scheduling and volunteer management software

Familiarity with MS Office/Windows environment

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Attention to detail

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive personally identifiable information

Ability to facilitate effective interactions by working collaboratively with different stakeholders

Outstanding organizational abilities

Ability to manage multiple diverse projects simultaneously



Job Type:

  • Part time, temporary - 15 hours per week – January 6 – April 15

 

Compensation:

  • $20 an hour not to exceed 200 hours
  • Benefits – up to 4 hours of paid time off (PTO)

 

Work Environment:

  • This job function uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, printer, and photocopiers
