Sales Development Associate

About the Role

The Sales Development Associate role is a full-time entry-level sales position designed to serve as a launching pad to a career in Brother USA’s sales division. You’ll become an expert on our products, customers, and programs and visit accounts across the country, learning our sales process from the ground up. While the mission of the role is to learn, there is no classroom training involved, and you’ll be face-to-face with customers as early as month one. And despite the function of the role being sales, you won’t be asked to make a single cold-call. We do most of our selling through retail and distribution channels, so our time is mostly spent visiting local stores and offices, participating in trade shows, and leading trainings and engagement events, tasked with showing our clients how and why to lead with Brother USA. You may even help us host a happy hour or two!

About the Career Program

Start this career program in our Sales Development Associate role, learning the products, programs, and customers you’ll need to know to succeed in a Brother USA sales career. Then, after only 6-9 months, you’ll be eligible for a promotion to our Sales Development Specialist role. In the Specialist role, you’ll continue to support our customers in the field, helping to build close relationships and uncover new business opportunities for the next 6-9 months. In our third and final phase of the program, you’ll continue in your role of Sales Development Specialist, rotating through a selection of sales channels to determine a strong fit for your career as an Account Manager at Brother USA. We expect that successful candidates will complete all three phases of our Sales Development Program and earn two promotions within their first few years at the company! Successful Sales Development team members are encouraged to apply for internal opportunities and must obtain next-level positions within 30 months from their date of hire to continue their careers at Brother.

  • Seeking a Sales Career – This role is designed as the start to a career path to sales and sales leadership, so successful candidates will be ready and eager to grow in our sales organization!
  • Presentation Skills – Within mere months of starting with the company, you could be given the opportunity to present to anyone from store reps to sales managers, so presentation rock stars to the front of the line!
  • A Sales Personality – As a channel sales rep, it will be your job to go around making friends with strangers. After all, people buy from people, and those are the people we’re looking for!
  • Selling Experience – An entry-level role that’s asking for sales experience? Nope – not sales, just selling! Even with no formal corporate sales experience, be ready to show us that you know what it means to sell. Are you the barista whose customers always leave with the larger size, the retail associate whose customers always sign up for the membership, or even the golf caddy who can convince members which golf club is best? This role will be a hybrid role. Subject to business needs, employees may work remotely up to two days per week. Assigned office days will be determined by managers. 


  • The salary for this position is $50,003.20 annualized per year ($24.04/hr)
  • Starting salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location, and alignment with market data
