Reports to: The Manager of Operations
Location: Bridgewater branch - 1 Vogt Drive Bridgewater,NJ
Organization - Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ)
Hours & Type: Full-time (37.5 hours/week), On-site /not remote work
Compensation: $91,626 annually (plus benefits such as medical and dental healthcare options and NJ PERS)

What You’ll Bring to the Team
Strategic Vision & Collaboration
● You’ll partner with leadership to develop a forward-thinking annual IT roadmap that aligns perfectly with our Strategic Plan.
● You’ll act as an enthusiastic ambassador for the library, staying ahead of tech trends to keep our branches modern and responsive.
Empathetic Leadership
● You’ll hire, mentor, and advocate for a dedicated IT team, building a culture grounded in accountability, mutual support, and growth.
● You'll establish seamless, stress-free workflows that empower your team to resolve technical hurdles swiftly and gracefully.
Operational Excellence
● You’ll architect and sustain a resilient, secure network infrastructure (Wi-Fi, security systems, hardware) that both staff and the public can rely on daily.
● You'll exercise sound fiscal and organizational judgment, managing practical IT budgets and nurturing strong vendor relationships to maximize the impact of every public dollar.
The Essentials (Requirements)
● Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; at least 5 years in technology support, highlighting your ability to lead, collaborate, manage budgets, and directly supervise staff (minimum 3 years of supervisory experience preferred). An equivalent combination of training and proven experience that demonstrates these skills will also be considered.
● Location: Must reside in the State of New Jersey within one year of employment (unless exempted by law).
● Mobility: Reliable transportation to seamlessly collaborate across our various branches,attend off-site meetings, or participate in training; candidates must be able to meet the mobility demands of the role.
● Schedule & Physical Stamina: Ability to work a standard 37.5-hour week (including occasional evenings, weekends, or overnight travel for conferences as needed). Comfortably operating computer equipment, occasionally lifting up to 35 lbs., and navigating a dynamic environment.
