Field Team Associate

Job Summary: 

America’s Grow-a-Row (AGAR) is a non-profit farm and hunger relief organization located in Hunterdon County. We are a 423 acre farm and 100% of what we grow is donated to food banks and other hunger relief organizations throughout NJ and 24 other states. The Seasonal Field Team Associate position is part-time seasonal, requiring 20 hours per week. While most work is done during regular business hours, M-F, due to the seasonal nature of farming, some hours may be needed in early evenings. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

-At the direction of staff, gather supplies prior to a volunteer event in the field including pallets, bins, buckets, water jugs, sunscreen, bug spray, etc. Also help with the registration/intake of the volunteers as they arrive. 

-With other Programming staff, move pallets and set up produce bins in the field for volunteers while they harvest. 

-With staff supervision, work with children from underserved communities by teaching them about the organization and leading them in the fields for harvesting. 

-Help repack produce from bulk bins into cases for our Free Farm Market Program. Help load cases into vehicles that are going to our Free Farm Markets. 

-Clean-up after events including sweeping of the barn, hose-washing of Gators, emptying water jugs, wiping down tables, etc. 

-Eventually lead a volunteer group in the field with other staff. This involves planning leading up to the volunteer event and giving direction to colleagues for setup. It may also include public speaking to the group of volunteers if the intern feels confident in doing this.

-Ability to work in a team setting 

-Ability to work in a fluid environment 

-Valid driver's license 

Preferred Skills/ Not Required: 

-Salesforce experience 

-Bi-Lingual, Spanish 

Education and Experience: High school diploma or above  

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
