Client Accounting Services (CAS) Associate

Position Summary

The Client Accounting Services (CAS) Associate is responsible for providing accounting and payroll support to a portfolio of clients. This position performs day-to-day bookkeeping, quarterly payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, account reconciliations, and assists with monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to providing exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, file, and reconcile federal, state, and local payroll tax returns, including Forms 941, 940, state unemployment, and other payroll-related filings.

• Prepare and process annual payroll reporting, including Forms W-2 and 1099.

• Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.

• Perform general bookkeeping, including recording journal entries and maintaining the general ledger.

• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and balance sheet accounts.

• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions as needed.

• Assist clients with accounting and payroll questions in a professional and timely manner.

• Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.

• Maintain organized client files and documentation.

• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing and basic accounting.

• Experience preparing payroll tax returns and payroll compliance filings.

• Working knowledge of bookkeeping principles and general accounting practices.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

• Experience with accounting and payroll software (such as QuickBooks, Sage, ADP, or similar) preferred.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Excellent communication and client service skills.

• Ability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in a CPA firm or Client Accounting Services (CAS) environment.

• Familiarity with sales tax filings and other business tax compliance.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating with team members.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
