Somerset County Business Partnership brings you the nonprofit roundtable. This month join us for an introduction to Nonprofit Lifecycles to help identify opportunities to build capacity and prepare for the future.
Learning Objectives:
- Understanding the Nonprofit Lifecycles concept
- Assess your organization using the Nonprofit Lifecycles tool
- Identify needs to build capacity in critical areas
- Look for ways to build on current success
- Integrate learnings into leadership plans, board discussions, and overall strategy
COLLEEN P. DUERR, MS, CFRE
Ms. Duerr is the President of Shifting Gears Consulting, an independent consulting firm that focuses on grant process, training, communications, writing, process improvement, and strategic planning for nonprofit entities.
She gained her business experience as a Vice President with CoreStates Bank in Philadelphia where she sold treasury management services to the large corporate market. Since then, Ms. Duerr has gained decades of experience in the nonprofit sector as Development Officer for the Hunterdon Medical Center Foundation, Vice President of America’s Grow-a-Row, and Development Director and Co-Director of Family Promise of Hunterdon County. Her professional responsibilities have included: fundraising, volunteer management, education, database implementation and updates, board development, marketing, website creation and management, event management, social media strategy, communications, and assistance with budgeting and long-term organizational planning.
Ms. Duerr is a volunteer advocate for children in foster care with CASA/SHaW, weekly Order Coordinator at the Flemington Area Food Pantry, Trustee for the Somerset Hills Learning Institute, Trustee for Johnsonburg Camp & Retreat Center, serves on the Impact100 Hunterdon Leadership Council, and has given countless hours as a Presbyterian elder and deacon.
Ms. Duerr earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the Pennsylvania State University (1990), including a semester abroad at the University of Manchester, England. She earned a Masters in Nonprofit Leadership from LaSalle University (2023). She is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), a Certified Nonprofit Lifecycles Consultant, completed both the Interim Executive Director and Succession Planning courses from the Interim Executives Academy, and holds a Certificate in Non-Profit Executive Leadership from Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
