Pickleball & Bachata — Beginner Social, All Levels — Somerset NJ

Saturday, September 26, 2026 (6:00 PM - 8:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Play pickleball, learn bachata, and meet new people at a fun Central Jersey community social for singles, couples, friends, neighbors etc. I’d shift the positioning from “singles event” to community social + networking through activities. That makes it welcoming to singles, couples, friends, newcomers, and people who simply want to expand their social circle. Pickleball + Bachata Community Social Play. Dance. Connect. Meet new people in Central Jersey. Two things you’ve probably been meaning to try. One evening. Zero experience required. Saturday, September 26 · 6:30 PM Colonial Park Tennis Center Colonial Dr, East Millstone, NJ This isn’t a singles-only event and it isn’t a traditional networking mixer. It’s a community social designed for people who want to get out, learn something new, make friends, expand their network, and connect with people in real life. Come single, partnered, with friends, or completely on your own. WHAT TO EXPECT First, We Play Pickleball Never held a paddle before? Perfect. We’ll introduce the basics, including how to serve, keep score, understand the kitchen, and get a rally going. Then we play. You’ll rotate through games and meet different people naturally instead of standing around trying to figure out who to talk to. Already know how to play? Join in, have fun, and help create a welcoming environment for newer players. Then, We Dance Bachata After pickleball, we switch gears. We’ll start with beginner-friendly bachata basics and build from there. No partner needed. No dance experience needed. We’ll rotate partners and keep things social, light, and fun. You don’t have to be a “dancer.” You just have to be willing to try. WHY PICKLEBALL + BACHATA? Because meeting new people is easier when you’re actually doing something together. Pickleball gets everyone moving, laughing, competing a little, and talking without forced small talk. Then bachata changes the energy completely. By the time the music starts, you’ve already met people, learned names, played together, and shared a few laughs. Instead of walking into a room full of strangers and wondering who to approach, the activities create the introductions for you. WHAT YOU’LL WALK AWAY WITH A New Sport You’ll learn the fundamentals of pickleball and actually spend time playing — not just watching a demonstration. It’s something you can continue doing with friends, coworkers, family, or people you meet at local courts. A New Dance Skill You’ll learn beginner bachata steps you can use at future Latin nights, parties, weddings, cruises, and social events. New Connections This is not about exchanging business cards as quickly as possible. You’ll meet people while playing, dancing, laughing, and learning together. Maybe you make a new friend. Maybe you meet someone in your industry. Maybe you find a new pickleball partner. Maybe you meet people who introduce you to an entirely new community. That’s the point. An Actually Social Saturday Night Instead of another night of dinner, scrolling, or trying to figure out where to go, spend the evening moving, learning, and meeting people. THIS EVENT IS FOR Complete beginners at pickleball, bachata, or both Experienced players and dancers who want a relaxed social environment Singles Couples Friends People looking to expand their social circle Professionals who want to network in a more natural environment People new to Central Jersey Anyone who wants to meet more people offline People coming alone — you are absolutely welcome Adults looking for something different to do on a Saturday night Whether you’re from Somerset, Franklin Township, New Brunswick, Hillsborough, Bridgewater, Piscataway, Princeton, or elsewhere in Central Jersey, come join us. THIS IS NOT A competitive pickleball tournament. A formal business networking event. A singles-only mixer. A couples-only event. A high-pressure dance class. It’s a community experience built around learning, movement, conversation, and connection. COMING ALONE? Come anyway. You do not need to know anyone before you arrive. Pickleball naturally puts people into small groups, and during bachata we’ll rotate partners so you have opportunities to meet different people throughout the evening. You won’t need to walk around introducing yourself to a room full of strangers. The activities do most of the work for you. WHAT TO BRING Sneakers or athletic shoes Water Comfortable clothes you can move and dance in A good attitude and willingness to meet someone new Pickleball paddles and balls are provided. No dance shoes needed. No partner needed. No pickleball experience needed. No bachata experience needed. THE REAL REASON WE’RE DOING THIS As adults, meeting new people can get surprisingly difficult. Work. Errands. Responsibilities. Screens. Your routine gets bigger while your opportunities to meet new people sometimes get smaller. So we’re creating more spaces where people can simply show up and connect in real life. You don’t need a perfect introduction. You don’t need to be athletic. You don’t need to know how to dance. You don’t even need to bring someone with you. Just show up. Play a little pickleball. Learn a little bachata. Meet people you probably wouldn’t have met otherwise. That’s what community is supposed to feel like.
